Nashville Kats Krush Minnesota for Week 1 Win

by Aidan Napier

The Nashville Kats and the Arena Football League returned Saturday night with a slate of games including the Kats vs the Minnesota Myth at the Nashville Municipal Auditorium. The Kats had many festivities at their pregame Block Party including giveaways of Kats specific merch and some from the Nashville Predators. They also had a meet and greet opportunity with their mascot, Kool Kat!

In front of a large, rowdy, and loud crowd of 5,704 Kats supporters, they would win in dominating fashion, 47-12 after leading 35-0 at halftime. Partway through the third quarter the Kats opted to rest their starting quarterback Ramone Atkins, who was 8 for 14 for 161 yards and threw 4 touchdowns. Atkins had previously played in the Indoor Football League from 2022-2023 and won Rookie of the Year while playing for the Duke City Gladiators. In his place, Charlie Brewer, who last played for the Liberty Flames in 2022 would finish the rest of the game.
The Nashville Kats are 1-0, tied for the lead in the East Division with the Albany Firebirds and it’ll be a short week for both these teams as they’ll face off in Albany, New York at MVP Arena on Thursday, May 2nd. The game will be broadcast on NFL Network at 7 PM Central / 8 PM Eastern.
